“Calixcoca – Therapeutic vaccine for treatment of cocaine and crack addiction” Project is the highlight in Euro Award’s 2nd edition
The ceremony event also acknowledged other 11 winners for their innovative projects; for the first time, the initiative reached more Latin American countries
São Paulo, October 19, 2023 – Euro Health Innovation Award’s second edition was held late on Wednesday 18, at Tokio Marine Hall, in São Paulo, and acknowledged the most innovative projects, selected by physicians from across Latin America throughout 2023. The night’s main moment was the announcement of the Award’s Highlight Initiative, which was the project “Calixcoca – Therapeutic vaccine for treatment of cocaine and crack addiction”, by physician Frederico Duarte Garcia, who will receive € 500,000.00 (five hundred thousand Euros). To the other 11 winning projects € 50,000.00 (fifty thousand Euros) awards were distributed).
“This was a very special night, where we could actually celebrate medical innovations in Brazil, and, for the first time, also in the other 16 Latin American countries where Eurofarma is present. We were very glad to be close to such an engaged scientific community, and to bring to the society innovations that can really change people’s lives”, said Roberta Junqueira, Eurofarma’s Commercial director.
Altogether, 11 projects from Brazil, from four different states, were the winners, in addition to an unprecedented acknowledgement of one initiative from Uruguay. They were all chosen by open voting by Latin American physicians. The Euro Award objective is to acknowledge and encourage the search for solutions in products, services, and innovative actions that will improve life quality and well-being of Brazilians and Latin American citizens.
The authors of other well positioned projects from other countries, which were not winners, were also present at the event; a way to encourage Latin America participation, since this was the first edition that included other countries besides Brazil. Eurofarma, increasingly global, is committed to expand its initiatives to all places where it operates, thus contribution to the medical community and the whole society.
